“In Biscayne Bay”

A Celebration of Biscayne Bay's Historic Recognition  April 7th - August 4th: Key Biscayne, FL –The Bridge Initiative proudly presents “In Biscayne Bay” with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center. The exhibit features the work of acclaimed artist Christina Pettersson. This exhibition is a jubilant celebration of our collective initiative to secure a place for Biscayne Bay on the prestigious National Register of Historic Places.

About the Exhibition:

 More than just an art display, the exhibition is an invitation—an opportunity to pause, reflect, and engage. Through Christina Pettersson's unique artistic lens, visitors are encouraged to deepen their connection with Biscayne Bay. The exhibition invites everyone to explore the hidden stories of the Bay, celebrate its culture and archaeological gems, and witness its resiliency.

 Going beyond a mere display, this exhibition serves as a powerful call to action. It urges viewers to see beyond the frames, hear the whispered narratives of the tides, and feel the pulse of a collective commitment to nurturing and preserving this irreplaceable gem by advocating for its addition to the National register..

Opening Event: 

The grand opening of the "In Biscayne Bay" exhibition will take place on April 7th, coinciding with Marjory Stoneman Douglas's birthday. The event will run from 4-6 PM at the Biscayne Nature Center, followed by a reception at Gramps Getaway from 6-9 PM featuring a special MSD Manhattan and 16mm films presented by the AV club.

 

Programming will run from April 7th - August 4th: Throughout the exhibition, the Biscayne Nature Center has curated a series of engaging programs to complement the exhibition:     

  • (April 7th) Opening reception  4-6 PM at the Biscayne Nature Center 

  • (April 7th) reception Gramps Getaway from 6-9 PM featuring a special MSD Manhattan &  Biscayne AV club 16mm film night with Katherine Labuda @Gramps Getaway 

  • (April 28th) 4-7 PM  Seagrass Adventure: Explore the wonders of the sea with a guided tour, followed by a night at Gramps.

  • (May 23rd) Full Moon Boat Tour: Join Christina for an enchanting full moon boat tour.

A Legacy to Preserve: Together, let us ensure that Biscayne Bay's legacy endures by advocating for the National Register of Historic Places designation. The Bay has already given us so much. Now, it's our turn to give back.
